All styles of music require different approaches to stringed musical instruments. Each has its own balance of woods, resonance, acoustics, strings and electronics that all work together to influence each type of instrument towards the requirements of different styles of music. By working with top guitarists and bassists, as well as being a working musician myself, I have developed repair and building techniques to meet the high quality demands for studio and stage instruments.
In my years of stage experience, I have found there is no substitute for quality, from the instrument to the amplifier, and everything in between. One bad link and the quality of tone will falter. The same is true in building an instrument. Not only must all materials be of exceptional quality, but they need to be constructed with precision or the chain is broken, the difference is in the details.
At Marrott guitars, every instrument is constructed in old world luthier tradition, constructed completely by hand, with all attention to detail and precision.
No CNC machines here!
The difference between guys like me, building one handmade instrument at a time, and the mass producers of “cookie cutter” guitars are, I do it to make a living doing something I love, they do it to make as much money as they can. Before you spend your hard earned money on a brand new guitar, do your homework. If you pick up one of my instruments and play it, you will know what Marrott Guitars is all about.
You Dream It, I’ll Build It!
Many of the mass production guitar companies offer “custom shop guitars” which are really nothing more than an instrument from their regular production line, with a few added bells and whistles, so they can charge you even more for an already overpriced computer generated instrument. I believe many of the “boutique” guitars are overpriced as well.
Marrott Guitars is dedicated to providing a quality American made guitar, at a reasonable price. Marrott Guitars is a true custom shop. Many body styles are available, or dream up your own! Other custom options include. Solid body, semi hollow, hollow body, or weight relieved, natural wood bindings, fore arm tuck, tummy tuck (available on hollow bodies also) Custom electronic schemes, neck size, radius, fretwire, inlays, peg head design.
Finishes run the entire gauntlet, you can choose from all the great vintage colors, and bursts in nitrocellulose lacquer. We also offer modern finishes such as metal flakes, harlequin colors, candy colors, and pearlescents. Custom old school pinstriping is available as well.
You dream it! I’ll build it.
